Khan M. B. Asad
I am a radio astronomer working as a postdoctoral research fellow at SKA South Africa. I was born in Mymensingh, a small town on the Old Brahmaputra river in Bangladesh, but brought up in Satenga — a remote village on the Khiru river in Bhaluka that did not have any electricity, gas or concrete road — until the age of nine. After finishing high school studies from Mirzapur Cadet College, I went to Islamic University of Technology to study electrical engineering before moving to Europe to do a masters in astronomy and astrophysics. I lived in Austria, Germany and Italy during my masters, moved to the Netherlands to do a PhD in radio astronomy, and finally ended up in South Africa as an observational astronomer made employable by SKA.
